Soil entombs no deeper chagrin
for gilded nativity than barned birth
So how does empty blue of sky exult
any more than the brown odor of earth?

I like your juxtposition of sky and earth. And you’re right, so often we praise the beauty of the skies but aren’t grateful enough for the humble richness of the earth. I live in the desert and even here even the dry earth hosts a lot of plants and animals. it’s incredible. It’s just not as easy to take a gorgeous photograph as a sky at sunset.
